Hi, The Robert Hill who settled in Rocky Mount, Virginia- He is my 5th greatgrandfather. My uncle William Hill has done a lot of studies on our Hill line. I, my sister and my uncle and aunt plan on attending this. Thank you so much. Sorry, I think I posted earlier he was in Rocky Mount, Nc. It was Rocky Mount, Va.
Edna, we sure look forward to seeing you there.
I HOPE TO BE THERE JULY 3OTH
William–hope you are feeling better. We REALLY missed you. Will call you once you are better–would love to follow up on your Luke Hill Jr. and Thomas Allen theories. Where did you find the surname of Thomas Allen’s wife Nancy–you may have said but I don’t have my notes with me. Feel better and take good care, Fran
William, this will be a very nice visit for all of us. I am glad you can be there.
Less than two weeks to go…If you are reading this, I expect to see you there! Don’t miss out on this event. Everyone will find new photos and hear stories not told before.
Collect leads at this event to follow-up on in the long winter months ahead.
I will not be able to attend…so please take plenty of pictures and make a lot of posts with new information for those of us who cannot be there! All of you be careful, have fun and have safe trips to and from the reunion!!!
Thanks for a GREAT Hill reunion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, Joe & Jewel, for coming all the way from Kentucky. It was great to see you both.
It was a great event. HUGE kudos to Claudia & Tim for making this reunion so welcoming and worthwhile….Claudia, your notebooks are a treasure and an invaluable boon to family research. Can hardly wait to buy your next book. A million thanks to you and Tim and to everyone else who came. Stay tuned for some kind of followup.
I would deeply appreciate information connecting links to my Hill family line. The line starts with Nancy Hill, 1803-1871, (Burke Co. NC) and she died in 1871 in Dickenson County, N.C. She was a daughter of Swinfield and Martha Wilson Hill. Nancy Hill married Elias John Rose, 1796 (Yancey Co., N.C.) and he died 1870, in Dickenson County, Va.
Who were the parents of Swinfield Hill? The information I have on him lists that he was born 1770 in Burke County, N.C. and he died 1840 in Carter County, Tenn. I have no information on Martha Elizabeth Wilson.
Bernard–I am so sorry to have overlooked your email amidst the spam. I am traveling, but will respond very soon. Very briefly, I am descended from Nancy’s brother, John. I will send you another sister’s MN death certificate, Dicey Hill Tayler, that lists Swinfield and Elizabeth as our descendants’ parents. There is also a Burke Co. record of an estate settlement for the widow of Swinfield Hill. Swinfield’s parents are thought to be the William Hill who dies in Burke Co. in 1802 leaving a widow Elizabeth Hill and unnamed “orphins.” Professional geneolgists have agreed that this William and Elizabeth must be Swinfield’s parents and your Nancy’s grandparents because there is a land deed granted to Wm for land which is subsequently (much later)sold by Swinfield. Since Burke Co. land records during the period of the sale are extant and considered complete, it would be impossible for Swinfield to sell the land deeded to William unless they were father and son and it was all in the family. More later and with apologies once again. Thank you for writing!
